HS2

Blackwell has provided HS2 Ltd with earthmoving advice and support since 2012 during the Phase 1 and Phase 2 Hybrid Bill stages as a sub-consultant to Professional Services Consultants Atkins and Mott MacDonald.

In the summer of 2018, Blackwell entered into an exclusive strategic partnership (ESP) with the Main Works Civils Contractor, the Eiffage-Kier (EK) Joint Venture, for the C2 and C3 sections of Phase 1 to develop the earthmoving strategy for this 80km stretch of the proposed route.

Following the successful ESP contract, Blackwell has been delivering  15M cu m of bulk earthworks consisting of deep cuttings, stabilised embankments, and ground improvement to mitigate the unique ground stability challenges that would arise from a train moving at 360km/h since 2019.

Additional works include stabilisation and earthworks on temporary works facilities, including compounds, access roads and batching plant yards. To read more about our HS2 engagement, click here.
