A vacancy has arisen for an Operations Supervisor to join our team within our Yorkshire Water contract based in West Yorkshire.
As part of the Industrial Services growth plan the company is focused on winning new work in the water sector. This role will assist the Contract Manager in overseeing the contract with Yorkshire Water for the smooth running of the Sludge Handling Sites, and therefore flexibility to travel between sites as and when required to meet operational needs is key. Sites include (but are not limited to) Leeds, Huddersfield, Skipton, Sheffield, York, Doncaster, Hull and Bridlington).
The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -
- Oversee team safety to ensure all activities are completed in line with company operating procedures.
- Daily management of teams to ensure workforce is deployed to areas required to meet client material movement requirements.
- Liaise with local client management as well as contract management and environmental team members.
- Ensure plant and equipment is available for the required tasks, working with the contract manager.
- Ensure the team comply with all client processes and procedures related to the sludge handling contract (full induction and training provided).
- Deputise for Contract Manager as and when required.
- Completion of time sheets and deployment of the team, to report back to Admin for payroll control.
- Effectively manage holidays and rota cover for holidays and absence on operational sites.
- Ensure all members of the team have the appropriate qualifications, training and inductions to operate on site.
- Attend and participate in client meetings as and when necessary.
- Effective management of vehicles applicable to the role, ensuring safety checks are complete and check pre-starts.
- Responsible for completing a daily report
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-
- Good understanding of site safety standards.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience within a supervisory role.
- Hold an NPORS or CPCS telehandler licence (to assist with site operations and holiday cover).
- Flexible approach to work and travel, willing to work overtime as necessary.
- Creative and a good problem solver.
- Skill in prioritising workload, with excellent time management and organisation.
- Exceptional communication skills, both with colleagues, other contractors and clients at all levels.
- Experience with health, safety, environmental end quality management systems.
- Ability to achieve set targets for pro-active SHEQ performance.
- Ability to adequately understand and manage health and safety performance of all personnel engaged in the contracts.
- Develop and demonstrate a good understanding of customer requirements and measure satisfaction on an ongoing basis.
