A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Improver to join our Engineering team.

This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals who have recently completed formal mechanical training or education but lack hands-on experience. The Mechanical Improver will support qualified engineers on-site, gaining practical skills and knowledge whilst working alongside experienced professionals.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

  • Assist in the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical components and systems.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians to troubleshoot mechanical faults.
  • Support planned maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Learn and follow industry standards, health & safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in training programs to develop mechanical knowledge and practical skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of work carried out and report any issues to senior team members.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing mechanical performance.

Travel and weekend work may be required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-

  • Education: A recent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (e.g., diploma, degree, NVQ).
  • Skills: Strong willingness to learn, good problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and effective communication.
  • Desirable: Basic knowledge of mechanical components, regulations, and safe working practices.
  • Personal Attributes: Enthusiastic, proactive, reliable, and able to work well in a team environment.
