SALARY: £41-48,000 per annum (dependant on experience)

A vacancy has arisen for a QHSE Engineer to join our Engineering project team based at our Barnsley office.

The QHSE Engineer role exists to work either alone or as part of a team to provide Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental services and advice on all contracts within the Engineering and Projects business of Hargreaves Industrial Services.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

  • Inspection, Test & Verification Plans: The preparation, implementation and updating of ITV Plans for all contracts within the Engineering & Projects business of Hargreaves Industrial Services.
  • Construction Design Management: The setting up of all CDM requirements within the Engineering & Projects business of Hargreaves Industrial Services.  Represent the business at the project HAZID and HAZOP workshops.
  • Risk Assessments: Ensure comprehensive risk assessments are in place for all activities with significant hazards and foreseeable risks.
  • Auditing, Monitoring, Review: Complete to plan & schedule of internal audits and inspections.
  • Management Systems & Accreditations: Support and maintain the development of the existing management systems commensurate with ISO standards.
  • Liaison with Enforcement Agencies: Act as site point of contact for all communications of the sites with enforcement authorities ensuring all communication is escalated and filed appropriately.
  • Incidents & Near Misses: Generate commitment to the correct and prompt reporting of all accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Legal Compliance: Remain up-to-date with all relevant legislation. Monitor business compliance with legal (and other) requirements via day-to-day duties as described.
  • Communication & Consultation: Establish positive relationships with all employees, subcontractors, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.
  • Improvement / Development: Agree local Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental objectives in conjunction with the Project Managers, Construction Managers and Project Engineers and establish implementation plans.
  • Location: The role will be based in our Barnsley Office. Travel to our sites and subcontractor manufacturer’s premises will be required; this will require overnight stays as and when necessary.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-

Qualifications/Training

  • ISO & OHSAS certification qualification (Lead auditor would be beneficial).
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and or diploma.
  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or Process).
  • CDM Awareness.

Experience

  • QHSE Management Experience on CDM Projects.
  • Construction Projects where the predominant discipline is MEICA.
  • Design & Build Contracts.
  • ISO & OHSAS certification management experience.
  • Ability to work with different business cultures

Key competencies

  • Conscientious with the strength of character to support and guide on QHSE matters within the Engineering & Projects business of Hargreaves Industrial Services.
  • Flexible to meet the daily changing demands of the role.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office user including Excel and Word.
  • An understanding of planning software (P6 and MS Project).
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy and literacy.
