The HELM division operates across a diverse range of business areas, including Hargreaves Logistics, Hargreaves Environmental, and Hargreaves Minerals. Our finance team plays a vital role in supporting these operations through accurate reporting, strategic insight, and robust financial control.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our HELM division finance team on a full-time basis. Based on-site in Esh Winning, this role is essential to managing and maintaining the company’s credit control processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, minimising credit risk, and supporting healthy cash flow.
You’ll work closely with customers and internal teams to resolve payment issues and maintain strong financial relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and chase outstanding customer payments via phone, email, and written correspondence
- Maintain accurate records of debtor accounts and payment history
- Assess creditworthiness of new and existing customers
- Set and review credit limits in line with company policy
- Prepare aged debt reports and escalate overdue accounts as necessary
- Resolve invoice disputes and queries in collaboration with sales and customer service teams
- Support month-end reporting and reconciliation of accounts receivable
- Perform reconciliation of bank accounts, managing incoming cash receipts and posting to the ledger
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in credit control or accounts receivable
- Knowledge of bank reconciliations and cash allocation postings
- Familiarity with credit control procedures and relevant legislation
- Broad understanding of credit management
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero)
- Highly motivated and able to meet designated timescales
- Diligent, well-organised, and methodical
- Capable of working independently and managing daily requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across the business
