At Blackwell Earthmoving, we're committed to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for women in our industry.

In 2025, Blackwell launched our 25 in 25 campaign, designed to encourage more women to consider a career in the construction sector.

The campaign offered roles across all levels, with training and support throughout to ensure new recruits got everything they needed to succeed.

At the height of our summer peak season 2025, we were delighted to achieve a significant milestone - 21% of our workforce being women.

The significant milestone is much higher than the industry average of just 15%*, and we saw women joining the company in a wide variety of roles ranging from trainee ADT drivers up to supervisor levels.

And we're not stopping there either! While we launched our 25 in 25 campaign in 2025, we're continuing to level the ground for people to succeed at Blackwell Earthmoving - no matter their gender.

Together, we're building a stronger, more inclusive team.

You can watch some of the women who joined us speak about their experiences in the video below:

Jenna - Graduate Engineer, Working on HS2

Jenna joined Blackwell as a graduate engineer, and is loving her time working at Blackwell. She said: "My mind was made up after I had my interview with Natalie Stevens, my manager. She showed me that if she can do it, why can't I do it as well? If she's progressed so far in this industry, I could give it a shot. It motivated me to even try, and I fell in love with it. Since I started, everyone has been so welcoming and I think other women should seriously consider giving this a shot!"

Chantal - Trainee ADT Driver, Working on HS2

Chantal swapped a near 30 year career as a beauty therapist to retrain as an ADT driver. She said: "I've always wanted to drive a big truck! A leaflet came through all about Blackwell and a friend of mine from school who had been driving in quarries for years told me I should go for it! So I did, and here I am! The team are incredibly helpful, they don't discriminiate, so if other women do want to come, just go for it!"

Nat, Sub-Agent Working on HS2

Nat joined the business originally as a summer placement student and has worked her way up to the position of sub-agent. She said: "As soon as I saw the yellow stuff, I was in love! I just love that we're making such a huge change with the project we're working on. It's really rewarding to be a manager for the next generation of female workers. Any difficulties or hardships I faced, as a manger, I can help to make sure my team don't face the same issues. I think the more women come into the industry, the more the issues I might have faced in my early days don't then get replicated."
