The Role

At Hargreaves we have a diverse range of different business areas, including Hargreaves Logistics, Hargreaves Environmental, Hargreaves Minerals and Blackwell Earthmoving. Across these business areas we generate significant amounts of data from various systems on different platforms.

Following the successful launch of our Digital, Data and Technology apprenticeship programme in 2021, we’re now looking to expand this team to further grow and develop our data analysis, reporting and use of technology.

Once embedded into the role, we will work with the successful candidate to identify a suitable apprenticeship programme to support the development of the individual and role. This apprenticeship will likely be in the areas of data management / systems development.

You will need a genuine passion and enthusiasm for all things technology and commitment to developing your technical skills, including through self-learning.

Key deliverables

  • Assist the finance and operational team in the analysis of large data sets, including learning and utilising reporting systems such as Power BI.
  • Manage and set up database structures holding critical data.
  • Assist in development of interfaces to connect to different datasets.
  • Assist in the design and development of systems to accurately and reliably track and record key data.
  • Support the wider team in IT applications by sharing best practices.
  • Assist with ad hoc administrative duties where required.

Knowledge and Skills required

We are looking for the right candidate who can demonstrate the below competencies:

Essential

  • Strong IT skills in the core Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • A strong desire to learn and ability to self-learn.
  • A passion for technology.
  • An analytical and logical thinker.
  • Quick and agile thinker.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
  • Excellent GCSE Maths and English (grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Experience in managing data.
  • Experience in coding.
  • Good design and creative skills.
  • Knowledge of data query language, such as SQL.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform.
